Not only will Estero be getting the exciting new community Verdana Village soon, but they are also getting a vibrant new shopping center complete with a Publix and a new fire station. The fire station development is planned to start late this summer and the commercial development is expected to start in late 2022. According to WMG Development, the commercial developer in charge of this project, there is 78,000 square feet of total shopping space planned. Up to 15,500 square feet of that space will be available for small shops with additional parcels for further development around the main commercial building. The commercial development is expected to contain dining, beauty, banking and medical services.

The new fire station will provide a much-needed addition to the Estero Fire Rescue service area to help with covering the eastern section of Estero with much quicker response times. It will be located on five acres of land donated by Cameratta Companies on the north side of Corkscrew Road across from Verdana Village. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art fire engine, ambulance, and brush fire truck too. It will have living quarters for seven firefighters and two EMS personnel. Construction is planned for completion by fall of 2022 or spring of 2023.
